Turns out that the big game was the most-watched television program in U.S. history, with the 111.3 million viewers edging out last year's 111 million (preliminary numbers earlier today showed a slight dip from 2011). Viewership climbed throughout the game, averaging 117.7 million in the final half hour, when things really got interesting. Madonna's halftime show was also the most-watched ever, and was seen by an average 114 million viewers. (The Wrap)
