Teamsters victory in harbor may have impact

One short lane to open on 405 freeway

6:50 AM Thu | While the 405 widening project slogs along late and over budget, one nugget of good news if you drive that stretch of freeway. As of Friday, a northbound lane will open for 1.7 miles between the 10 Freeway and Santa Monica Boulevard.

Feuer, Zine lead in poll that shows a discontented L.A.

The latest poll, which finds Dennis Zine ahead in the controller’s race and Mike Feuer leading for city attorney, also shows that half the voters don’t think Los Angeles is heading in the right direction.

Only someone intrigued by the finer points of the politics of education could have figured out the differences between the overly cautious mayoral candidates Eric Garcetti and Wendy Greuel at their debate Tuesday night.

Winning the long fight to fund Bradley documentary

Having watched filmmakers Lyn Goldfarb and Alison Sotomayor scramble for funding for a documentary on the late Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, I was glad to see they have received a $500,000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant that will allow them to finish the project by next January.

I guess it's worth a chuckle that the pavilion is late and over budget. 'Los Angeles' rethinks 'Failure' cover: still not impressed Ed Leibowitz wrote the 2009 cover story for Los Angeles Magazine that pronounced Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa mostly a failure at the end of his first term. The cover image went a long way toward turning the mayor's media treatment at the time.
