Tim Rutten's fifth straight Regarding Media column on the New York Times problems notes that, "it was a lousy week for the Times, whose self-inflicted wounds continue to bleed onto American journalism as a whole." He reports mostly on the internal backlash over the Jayson Blair con and Rick Bragg affair.

As of 11 a.m., the column is not available on L.A. Times.com, searched myriad ways. (Though, oddly, David Shaw's Sunday media column is already up -- it's about the effect of media ownership rules on local news.) In fact, a search on 'Tim Rutten' (or 'Jayson Blair') doesn't return any of his Regarding Media columns; you have to go hunting the Columns section and click a couple of times, or use this shortcut. They're also compiled here on Newsday's site.

[Rutten's latest Saturday column still not posted as of 10:30 a.m. Sunday. But you can get it here at the Canton, Ohio Repository.]
