Singleton grabs TV station under new FCC rules

William Dean Singleton, owner of the L.A. Daily News, the Long Beach Press-Telegram and a clutch of other SoCal newspapers, is the first media mogul to move on expansion under yesterday's new FCC rules on cross ownership. His MediaNews Group has exercised its option to buy an NBC station in Fairbanks, Alaska. Singleton already owns a Fairbanks newspaper.
