Another reason to like the Valley*

Erik Himmelsbach, who writes the Valley Boy column every two weeks (I think) for Valley Beat, is my new favorite interpreter of the lore and lifestyle that prevails on the far side of the hill. In the current piece, he is at Albertson's in Van Nuys when he comes across a long lost friend who had vanished from the other sphere of L.A.

I now know for certain I made the right decision in moving back to the Valley. I just needed a sign, and here it is, smiling back at me with a pointed beak and a solitary-fanged grin. That’s my main man on that shelf, my bad boy, next to the Lucky Charms and the Cookie Crisp: Count Chocula. Right here on Van Nuys Boulevard. The universe is kind and just.

* Besides the history, of course...
