A couple of Los Angeles writers have pieces in the September Esquire. Ross Johnson puts actor James Caan to the "What I've Learned" test, and finds him dismissive of actors' opinions on politics. In "The Sex Column" the least provocative query Stacey Grenrock Woods answers is whether anything can make cuddling more interesting. (Her answer is, essentially, yes.)

Elsewhere, Vanity Fair's awesomely fat 20th anniversary issue wedges in a piece on Frank Gehry and Disney Hall by Matt Tyrnauer that starts on page 460. The rich photographs are by Todd Eberle. At the online Movie City News, the L.A. Times links are now separated into "The Important Content That The LA Times Wants Web Readers To Pay For" and "The More Interesting (Free) Content." There is also a new installment of the continuing tales of Tiffany Stone and Kate. Tiffany advises her friend that the PA job she wants to take stands for assisting prostitute. "Kate gave me a WTF? look. I sighed, irritated that I had to explain such a stupid reality."
