Warner Bros. has demolished the studio backlot's legendary western street, where movies dating back to Errol Flynn's day and TV series such as "Maverick" and "Cheyenne" were filmed. Laramie Street had only been needed nine times in the past five years, says David Walstad in Calendar (LAT sub req'd). A suburban street with hidden production offices is going up in its place. Until it was razed in May, Laramie Street had made an amusing and popular stopover for guests on the Warner Bros. tour -- they would draw with pretend guns, stroll up to the bar for a whiskey, and imagine coming face to face with Mongo and Lili von Shtupp.
