Riordan felt 'set up,' DN says

Rick Orlov in the L.A. Daily News quotes an unnamed Richard Riordan aide saying that "the mayor was stunned. He was amazed and angry. He felt like he had been set up. We all know politics is tough, but we thought there would at least be some chivalry and friendship." Two hours before taping Leno, Schwarzenegger told the former mayor that he would not run, this aide says.

Late in the day yesterday Riordan issued a statement endorsing Schwarzenegger.
