The Writers Guild board meets today to figure out the latest mess it has itself in, involving the credentials of the new guild president, Charles Holland. A quick recap: Holland moved up when Victoria Riskin resigned after being dinged for not actually being an active screenwriter. A James Bates piece in the L.A. Times wrote that some of Holland's bio doesn't check out, especially his claim to have been an Army Green Beret and a college football player. After the story ran, the guild website yanked a recent profile of Holland. (Bates' follow-up story today recounts the questions.)

Meanwhile, dissident guild members Ron Parker and Eric Hughes also plan to press the board today for new election rules and other reforms. It's all too much for former guild director Roger L. Simon, who blogs today that "I am embarrassed for my union."
