That Phil Anschutz "quote"

The official line from Camp Anschutz is that yesterday's Wall Street Journal profile of the boss, while accurate, did not quote him directly. Reporter George Anders wanted us to think the quote -- "Hollywood is a very cynical place," he says. "It's pretty tough." -- was direct, but an Anschutz spokesman tells the Denver Post it was secondhand. The last time Anschutz gave a "quotable" interview was to Forbes in 1978, the spokesman said. Asked to comment, Anders referred the Post reporter to Dow Jones corporate comunications, which had no comment. (Via Romenesko)
