The silver, chandeliers, furnishings, a 1905 Steinway grand piano and everything else left from the old Perino's will be auctioned this Saturday at 7 p.m. After that, it's curtains for the long-closed filmland and society hangout. The Wilshire Boulevard landmark began as a Thriftimart market designed by Stiles O. Clements, was remodeled into a restaurant by Paul R. Williams in the late 1940s, and grew into a haute cuisine temple under the tutelage of Alexander Perino. It closed in the '80s and has been used since as a filming location; it will soon be demolished to make way for apartments. Proceeds from the auction will be shared with the Windsor Square - Hancock Park Historical Society and the Hollywood Entertainment Museum. Auction list.
