Nosing around the 4th Floor

The new City Hall blog 4th Floor reprints a terse email from Mayor Jim Hahn reminding staffers who drive city cars to obey parking signs and pay their tickets. It seems that those who tool around in official vehicles tend to flout the law and ignore tickets. The anonymous council aide behind the blog concedes the point: "Anyone who works for an elected official has probably illegally parked their City vehicle at some point - probably to gain access to an event. I had no idea that DOT was ticketing City vehicles..." The secretive web poster also makes a plea to the other gossips in the building (which is to say, just about everyone who works on the fourth floor):

We have seen you on the Council floor eyeing each other up and down, wondering who fits the profile of the new mysterious web master. We have heard you in the bathrooms and hallways whispering, "Who is doing this?" This has prompted a response from us for all you wannabe Inspector Gadgets.

The FourthFloor Blogger(s) hope that you can respect our privacy. We are confident that someone out there is smart enough to figure us out, but how much fun would that be? As we said earlier, if someone "outs" us we will probably be forced to end this charade.

When all is said and done, Bloggers have feelings too.

Since council aides are often young, well-dressed and the most attractive people in the building, all that checking each other out may be with hope that L.A. sprouts its own Washingtonienne, who blogged about her sexual liaisons on Capitol Hill. She was outed as Senate staffer Jessica Cutler and recently posed nude for Playboy.com. She and the Fourth Floorer(s) have at least one thing in common: they both post to the blog during work day hours. (* Actually they don't: The 4th Floor Blogger emails to point out that care is taken to not post during office hours. Noted.)
