Remembering Garbo

At FilmStew.com, Richard Horgan's "Hollywood Spin" says today's tabloids would have gone gaga when Greta Garbo walked out of her 1927 wedding to actor John Gilbert, as the guests were gathered. He translates the past into current terms:

Imagine if Star, Us Weekly, In Touch and The National Enquirer were all breathlessly lined up to report on every last detail of the double wedding of director Brett Ratner and his After the Sunset star Salma Hayek on the one hand and Ben Affleck and his new love Jennifer Garner on the other. The first half of the day’s festivities unfolds as planned, but then all hell breaks loose under the 600 Egyptian thread-count canopies when Garner fails to show and Miramax head honcho Harvey Weinstein makes an off-color observation to Affleck.

Yesterday was the anniversary.
