Writers Guild revolt fizzles *

Daniel Petrie Jr. remains president of WGA West in a landslide vote. He got 71.3% of the 2,110 votes cast by guild members, swamping dissident Eric Hughes, who received 25.6%. Petrie wins a special one-year term and promises to step down next September. Variety, Hollywood Reporter

* Noted: Voter turnout was exceptionally high, well above the number of ballots cast in the last three WGA elections. An e-mailer credits the active role of WriterAction.com, a private website for WGA members. Founder Alex Sokoloff was elected to the board, along with three of the board's administrators. Gossip is that the Times' Rachel Abramowitz is working on a story about the site, probably appropriate given the stormy nature of previous Hollywood writer websites.
