Ambassador vote coming up

This is the week the school board might decide the fate of the Ambassador Hotel. On Sunday, board member David Tokofsky offered a new plan that he says could spare the hotel building and still leave room and money for schools on the grounds. Nice gesture, but his effort is rather light on details for such a late date. For the record, I was quoted in Saturday's Times story on the Ambassador and the L.A. Conservancy. For that matter, I also was quoted last week in a piece in the Online Journalism Review about the lack of entries from blogger types in the Online News Association awards.

Elsewhere on the preservation front: Blogger Emmanuelle Richard writes that the neon sign in front of the Cap N' Cork liquor store on Hillhurst Avenue is for sale on eBay. The store is moving across the street and says it isn't allowed by the city to take the sign along.
