• Will Campbell at blogging.la called out councilman Eric Garcetti in a Monday morning post that complained about getting no answer to his plea for help to clean up a homeless encampment under the Sunset Boulevard bridge on Silver Lake Boulevard. At 3:17 p.m., Garcetti's press deputy Josh Kamensky posted a reply. At 7 p.m. Eric himself posted with apologies to a commenter who also complained of not getting his email answered.

• Mark Sarvas at lit-blog The Elegant Variation is off to Paris for two weeks. He has left the site in the hands of guest writers Jim Ruland, Tod Goldberg and M. Allen Cunningham.

• LABlogs.com's theme listing for Monday highlighted four websites (including the previously cited NickNolte.com) whose writers described recent car accidents. Best in my book goes to Heathervescent, who told readers what it was like to drive off the road in Malibu's Piuma Canyon:

What a shock to look up, and outside my front window is not the black pavement with the double yellow, but someplace you would usually hike too. Adrenaline is pumping, but I'm more or less ok.

• Former L.A. Times reporter, Wired managing editor and founder of the Industry Standard John Battelle calls himself the "band manager" for L.A.-based Boing Boing: "That means I help the band - Mark, Cory, Xeni, David - make decisions about the business of BB. What advertisers to accept, what policies we have, how we might approach various opportunities that arise. It's a very good group and it works very well, because it's small."
