LA Weekly columnist Nikki Finke bypassed the paper (which shutters on the weekend) and broke the news of actor Christopher Reeve's death of cardiac arrest in an email blast to the Drudge Report, L.A. Observed and others at about 8 p.m. Drudge posted it right away and put Finke on his radio show. Finke says she was interviewed by CBS News and KNX, then at about 11 p.m. Associated Press was able to confirm the news with the Reeve family. Finke, you might remember, got some attention for announcing the impending death of Ronald Reagan before anyone else.
