Steve Rosen, writing in The Canyon News, is fed up with discourteous drivers who steal a couple of car lengths in congested traffic by using the merge and parking lanes. He suggests that plainclothes traffic police would help. (I confess I'm one of the guys who plants my car half in the lane so they can't get by.)
