'L.A.'s In Crowd'

W magazine imageThat's the cover line in the December issue of W (not online) for a story that lets us in on a secret: there's more to Los Angeles these days than "box office and boob jobs." Our fair city is home, the stylistas reveal, "to a uniquely diverse crop of movers and shakers." And who might they be? W anoints Maria Shriver, entrepreneur Jay Penske, studio head Dede Gardner, doctor to the stars Soram Singh Khalsa, hotelier Jeff Klein, museum boss Ann Philbin and Bijou Phillips, dubbed "the wild child." They were photographed by Larry Sultan, perhaps best known for his book The Valley, a collection shot behind the scenes at L.A. porn sets. Busy issue for West Coast Bureau Chief Chris Bagley, who also profiles Lisa Eisner and visits with housebound Elizabeth Taylor in Bel-Air. The contributor page lets us know that Bagley didn't just interview Taylor, he "proudly became the first journalist invited into her bedroom."
