The Online News Association conference began at Hollywood and Highland yesterday and wraps tonight with presentation of the awards I helped judge a few weeks back. There's a substantial barrier to entry ($499 to attend the conference for non-members, $399 for ONA members) so it's not really for bloggers, but the conference itself has a blog. Award winners will be posted at this page, presumably later tonight. A video snippet of Wonkette Ana Marie Cox speaking at the conference lunch today was linked by Dave Winer, who also reveals that being in Hollywood did not ease his dislike of Los Angeles.

* Winners here: They moved the location. Among local finalists, the Ventura County Star website directed by Howard Owens won in general excellence. The Orange County Register won in service journalism for a package on toxic candy and SignOnSanDiego.com won for its breaking coverage of last year's wild fires.
