Meanwhile, things look bad up in La Conchita. The little Ventura County neighborhood with the great sea views has lost at least three people to a massive mudslide. They say another dozen may be buried. Saturated hillsides have sloughed off into homes there before, but nothing like this. You may know La Conchita as the turnoff beside U.S. 101 north of Ventura where there used to be an exotic banana farm.
