Tu Ciudad Los Angeles

Southern California is gaining another glossy lifestyle mag. Emmis Communcations—they publish Los Angeles magazine—is planning to launch Tu Ciudad Los Angeles this spring. It will be an English-language bimonthly targeting upscale Latinos. They have been interviewing staff and talking to freelancers for some weeks now, and have hired Oscar Garza to be the editor. He's currently deputy editor of the Los Angeles Times Magazine. Jaime Gamboa is publisher of the new venture and Angelo Figueroa the editorial director. This is a good time to ask whatever came of Bello?

Speaking of lifestyle mags: A tipster emails that Distinction publisher Jane Dalea-Kahn is leaving for LA Weekly. She used to be the Weekly's national advertising director before moving to Vogue and becoming publisher of New Times Los Angeles. Deputy Editor Emili Vesilind is also said to be exiting.
