Bridge lights from Daily BreezeThose solar-powered blue LED lights that are supposed to beautify the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro didn't come on Monday night, the night after the big civic celebration hailing the project. The Daily Breeze reports that people made restaurant reservations at window tables and cruised the streets hoping for a glimpse, only to be disappointed.

"I thought, 'It's the curse of Pedro,' " said Rancho Palos Verdes resident Jim Jones, who can see the bridge from his house. "They get it for one night and then all their hopes are dashed."
