Uni High sits on a fault

Uni HighUniversity High School in West. L.A. has been around a long time. It was built shortly after the former city of Sawtelle agreed in 1922 to be annexed into Los Angeles. Uni used to be named for President Warren G. Harding, but that was dropped after the Teapot Dome scandal tainted his reputation. Anyway, the school district has finally realized that the gymnasium, the music building and some other structures straddle the Santa Monica Fault. They will be removed. The Los Angeles Public Library photo is from 1925.
