Last chance to shoot the Ambassador

Ambassador Hotel
A photographer at photoblogs.org has posted some tips for making last-hour pictures of the doomed Ambassador Hotel, which closed this week to on-site location work in preparation for its eventual razing.

The Ambassador Hotel is probably my favorite location to shoot in Los Angeles. And, as I'm sure many of you know, it is about to be demolished....

After a "final tour" yesterday, the property is officially locked down and the first phase begins next week. While lawsuits are holding back demo work, they are moving forward with changes that will forever change this unique landscape....Although the property is patrolled by a platoon of security guards, there are still a few places where you can legally get some great angles of the hotel. I personally hate the blurry lines that chain link deals into my photos, so I'm only mentioning spots where the line of sight is unobstructed.

Some of the photographer's own work is here. Link via Blogging.la. The picture above is from the Los Angeles Public Library historical collection.
