Top L.A.-based blogs

The Defamer item below reminded me it's been a year since I checked in on the popularity rankings of local blogs. On Technorati.com's Top 100, which ranks based on how many websites link to a blog, these are the ones I recognize as originating in the L.A. area (Hewitt's in OC but airs on KRLA, so close enough.)

  #1 Boing Boing 20,045 links
#12 Little Green Footballs 7,615 links
#14 Wil Wheaton 5,700 links
#28 The Volokh Conspiracy 5,607 links
#39 Hugh Hewitt 4,259 links
#52 The Truth Laid Bare 3,861 links
#93 blogging.la 2,929 links

Heather ArmstrongHonorary mention: #11 Dooce, the blog of Heather Armstrong, now a mother in Salt Lake City. She lost her web design job in L.A. in 2002 for blogging about work. She says now, "My advice to you is BE YE NOT SO STUPID. Never write about work on the internet unless your boss knows and sanctions the fact that YOU ARE WRITING ABOUT WORK ON THE INTERNET." She calls herself a recovering Mormon, describes her alma mater BYU as "the most horrible place on Earth, worse even than Disneyland," and says: "I had pre-marital sex for the first time at age 22, but BY GOD I waited an extra year for the coffee. There had better be a special place in heaven for me."
