TV Guide's bold idea

TV GuideIn response to mounting losses, TV Guide is going to get harder to hold—and run fewer TV listings. Variety reports that Gemstar-TV Guide will spend $110 million to convert the small magazine into a full-sized glossy "to take on the likes of Entertainment Weekly, People and Us Weekly." Instead of 75% listings and 25% editorial, the ratio will be flipped. TV Guide has been losing tens of millions of dollars each year, despite a circulation of nine million.
