I've posted before about Laura, who blogs about her tribulations with oropharyngeal cancer at Kevin's Dead Cat. The intro banner there now reads: "After surgery sliced off an entire tumor and 1/3 of my tongue, plus six weeks of radiation therapy, I've been re-learning how to eat, drink, and talk with my newly re-constructed tongue and coping with side effects. But the cancer came back and I don't know what's going to happen next." What she doesn't say is that she's suffering from anemia and needs blood. Her sister, Celia of 5th and Spring, is holding a blood drive on August 26 followed by a party at Cole's downtown—donors get a free beer. For those who might remember this picture, it's of Laura's wedding on the roof of a downtown loft building in May. The blood drive will be held there:
