L.A.'s most popular car

Quick, test your grasp of Los Angeles vehicle culture: which model of car or truck sells the most here?

A) Toyota Prius - everybody's talking about the hybrid
B) BMW 325 - only $30,000 or so
C) Toyota 4Runner - affordable SUV
D) Lexus RX330 - see 'em everywhere
E) Honda Civic - basic, reliable

Answer below, along with the top 10 sellers in Los Angeles County.

Wrong.

Camry in whiteThe best selling car last year, and the three years before that, was the plain old Toyota Camry family sedan. Three of the Top 10's are pickup trucks. One is a van. None are SUV's or luxury cars. The hybrid Prius wasn't in the top 25 on last year's list, but surged to #13 this time. Longo Toyota, by the way, holds onto the title of top-selling dealership, here and nationally. Best-sellers, from next week's L.A. Business Journal:

1 - Toyota Camry
2 - Toyota Corolla
3 - Honda Accord
4 - Honda Civic
5 - Ford F-Series pickup
6 - Nissan Altima
7 - Chevrolet Silverado pickup
8 - Toyota Scion
9 - Toyota Tacoma pickup
10 - Toyota Sienna van
