LA Weekly photoThe LA Weekly has embraced Fashion Week in a big way. On the website there's a busy blog of items from the shows and parties by Linda Immediato, Caroline Ryder, Steffie Nelson and Lina Lecaro. They call it The Style Council and have fun with the clothes, the girls and the scene. Lots of pictures, including the models assembling for a run-through at the Ashley Paige show (where the unofficial theme was "rebellious surfer girl goes camping in Topanga.") Scoring a front-row seat at the Antik show, one of the bloggers writes: "Being right up front was a good thing, because there was a lot to see...There was one pair of shorts that literally consisted of pockets hanging off a denim thong. 'If only girls would actually wear that,' said Andrew Gallery, a denim designer and video director who was like a walking issue of Us magazine." More coverage in Thursday's printed paper, they say.

As newspapers and television pull back from investigative reporting, foundations and other organizations are beginning to fill the void. One of the most interesting is Accountable California, a project of Local 721 of the Service Employees International Union.
