President Bush has arrived at LAX and is heading toward Beverly Hills by helicopter. Once he lands, traffic officials are expecting a rough time in the area around UCLA during evening rush hour. Woe is you if you use Sunset Boulevard. Here's what the campus is advising people:

The California Department of Transportation announced it will close Sunset Boulevard temporarily for 10 to 15 minutes this evening, Oct. 20, sometime between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. and for 10 to 15 minutes tomorrow morning, Oct. 21, sometime between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Access to the 405 Freeway at Sunset Boulevard may be restricted as well.

Be advised to plan your commute accordingly. This is all the official information that is being released by the Department of Transportation and the local law enforcement agencies. This evening, traffic officers will be stationed at all the campus exits adjacent to Sunset Boulevard and Hilgard Avenue. When the closure is imminent, the officers will redirect traffic.

The CHP warning:

WESTWOOD, SAN DIEGO FWY (405) IN BOTH DIRECTIONS AT SUNSET BLVD. EXPECT DELAYS LATER THIS AFTERNOON BECAUSE OF THE PRESIDENT'S MOTORCADE BTW 4 PM - 8 PM .... THEN AGAIN TOMORROW MORNING BTW 7 AM - 11AM. .... ALSO, MANY SURFACE STREETS MAY BE JAMMED IN WEST L.A. . (CHP)

Alas, this is not abstract info for me. I'm supposed to talk about blogs and media at a class in Royce Hall tonight. Parking is arranged right off Sunset. Grrr.
