The Greek government is demanding that the Getty Museum return four antiquities they say were illegally removed from the country. The Getty is already under pressure from Italy over a similar issue. What else is interesting about today's L.A. Times story is that it appears from the byline that two local reporters assigned to pursue the Getty beat, Ralph Frammolino and Jason Felch, traveled to Athens to do the reporting. The story carries an Athens dateline and no disclaimer that either reporter was elsewhere when the story was written. If so, that seems to be an escalation of the Times' ambition on the ongoing Getty troubles.

* Later Monday: Getty chief Barry Munitz doesn't talk to the Times anymore, but he did sit down for an interview with the Daily News' Mariel Garza and Rob Lowman in which the Times came up. 4:55 pm
