New MWD chief dies

Dennis B. Underwood, the CEO and general manager of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California since April, passed away at age 60 after battling cancer. He was a nationally known expert on water issues. "I am deeply saddened by the news of Dennis’ death,” said Interior Secretary Gale Norton in a statement released by the MWD.
