Wanted: Moderate conservative *

A "large metro paper located on the West Coast" has retained the headhunting firm Black Leopard to find an editorial writer who fits certain criteria. From the posting on JournalismJobs.com:

Our client is a large metro newspaper located on the west coast.

We are looking for a seasoned NEWSPAPER Editorial Writer who is “moderately conservative” politically.

Candidate must possess a minimum of eight years of experience in a large or medium sized newspaper.

We seek an Editorial Writer who is comfortable with this approach and is equally at home expressing positions on local, national and international issues. Our client values original thought expressed in lively, intelligent prose.

The salary is $90,000-$95,000.

* Betting is: San Diego Union Tribune, based on some recent headhunter activity.
