Tribune execs rewarded

Tribune stock has lost 27% in value since the start of 2005 and most of its newspapers went through layoffs and are losing readers and advertisers, but the company yesterday disclosed salary raises for top executives. Dennis FitzSimons, chairman, president and chief executive officer, gets a 3.1% boost to $985,000. Scott Smith, promoted to oversee the newspapers in January 2005, received a 9.5% bump to $575,000. The Form 8-K also lists stock options.
