Catching up: The Bloggies

The Weblog Awards were handed out for the sixth time on Monday at the South by Southwest Interactive Festival in Austin. I was on the road that day, but some SoCal websites did well so here they are. Boing Boing took home the Lifetime Achievement prize and won for best group blog. Go Fug Yourself won for best writing on a blog and best entertainment blog. (GFY was also a finalist for best American weblog.) MAKE: Blog, which goes with Mark Frauenfelder's Make magazine, won for best craft blog. The big winner overall (blog of the year and best newcomer) was Postsecret, the addictive site where people send in their anonymous, private thoughts via postcard. Honorable mentions: Locals Firedoglake and Crooks and Liars finished behind Wonkette for best politics blog.
