The Cultural Heritage Commission will recommend to the City Council that the Derby in Los Feliz be declared a historic-cultural monument. Long way from saved, but it's a step...The Times website has a put a cam on the City Hall bureau's goldfish, Little Antonio and Little Ed. Like with most webcams, nothing much happens...A few words that say so much about Los Angeles politics, from Betty Pleasant's filing roundup in The Wave: "Assemblyman Mervyn Dymally, D-Compton, is unopposed in the 52nd District." Pleasant endorses the choice of Maria Elena Durazo as county labor chief: "She’s a kick-ass warrior woman who reminds me of my mother."...The Hollywood Reporter's Anne Thompson is being punished by Universal Studios president Ron Meyer, Nikki Finke reports. Also, several readers have emailed to say that Finke's blog posting yesterday on Pellicano amnesia overlooked a Feb. 26 front page story in the LAT by Rachel Abramowitz and Robert Welkos...Tyler Green praises the Getty's plans to expand the space-deprived photography galleries...Elle Decor's April issue has a piece on the Beverly Wilshire penthouse that belonged to the late Caroline Ahmanson being taken over by General Motors, renovated by event planner Jeffrey Best and used by Madonna for her Grammy party...Sheryl Crow will be on the cover of C's April issue, on the rebound from the Vanity Fair cover that didn't happen when she and Lance Armstrong split up...Fishbowl LA makes a good catch on what George Clooney said about blogging way back last month, before his little skirmish with Arianna Huffington.
