When you're running for office...

...you do things like this and send out press releases on it:

Los Angeles City Councilmember Alex Padilla today announced that he has filed an amicus brief in support of an appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals seeking declaratory and injunctive relief based on Section 9527(a) of the No Child Left Behind Act ("NCLB").

Because we all think of Padilla as the great defender of the No Child Left Behind concept, right? The former council president is running against Cindy Montaņez in that hot and destined-to-get-snarly Democratic Senate race in the East Valley (and, for the record, yesterday he did pick up the United Teachers of Los Angeles endorsement.)
