Speaking of mispronouncing City Hall names, I listened tonight to the audio stream of LAPD chief Bill Bratton taking calls on the "Ask the Chief" segment on this afternoon's Patt Morrison show on KPCC. Replayed it a couple of times, and I guess it could be argued that his condensing of the mayor's name to Veea-gosa (at the 20:05 mark) was just a matter of speaking briskly. Harder to explain away his calling Bill Rosendahl Councilman Rosenfelt at the 14:55 mark.

Best factoids from the show: Several "party cars" assigned to noise abatement are deployed in the Valley on weekend nights...40% of LAPD applicants who fail to qualify flunk out on the polygraph test...LAPD recruits so heavily outside Los Angeles because 60% of L.A. teens don't graduate high school...Cell phones carried by the Senior Lead Officers for community policing have to be paid for by private donated funds...and finally, Bratton is quite openly dismissive of former chief (now Councilman) Bernard Parks.
