Clintons and their friends

Sunday's New York Times has a piece about the origin of the friendship between supermarket czar Ron Burkle and former President Bill Clinton. dating it to the aftermath of the 1992 Los Angeles riots (on which Mickey Kaus does some fact-checking that casts doubt.) Meanwhile, my source at last night's Hillary Clinton fundraiser at the Burkle estate in Beverly Hills observed Speaker Fabian Nuñez spending a lot of time around Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony (potential donors?). Mayor Villaraigosa was spotted too, as were former Gov. Gray Davis and his wife Sharon, Robert Iger of Disney and his wife Willow Bay, and Peter Chernin of Fox. The ex-President talked about what he's doing in Africa, and Sen. Clinton spoke of plans by the Dems to take back the Senate.
