A jury in Orange County ruled that City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo improperly retaliated against a deputy in his office and ordered the city to pay $1.5 million to Lynn Magnandonovan. The Daily Journal says that Magnandonovan claimed she was targeted because she won the post of chief of a new hate-crimes unit as a settlement of an earlier gender-discrimination claim she filed against the office. Because the suit claims a civil rights violation, the DJ reports, "the city may also have to pay Magnandonovan’s attorney fees of more than $2 million." Also: Times, LA Weekly
