IATSE vs. Madonna

creditPicket lines from Local 33 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees have been up around the Inglewood church-slash-arena still known as the Forum since April. The union's complaint about a lockout of stagehands and janitors by management caught Erin Aubry Kaplan's eye on the LAT op-ed page, but mostly has bubbled quietly along. Then Madonna started crossing the picket line to rehearse for her shows coming up May 21, 23 and 24, providing a news bonanza. Members snapped photos of her arriving, they got a story on ABC-7 last night with video, and they are planning a rally outside the Forum before her opening show. The Forum is now owned by Faithful Central Bible Church.
