Among the gifts that President George W. Bush received from foreign governments in 2004—along with a braided leather whip from the prime minister of Hungary and revolvers from Jordan's King Abdullah—was the compact disc of "Central Avenue Sounds: Jazz in Los Angeles (1921-1956)" by various artists. The music came from the Sultan of Brunei, who also gifted the president with DVDs of Singing in the Rain and To Kill a Mockingbird. I guess he didn't want the White House to be unprepared, so the sultan also gave Bush "The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook." Compliments of The Smoking Gun, which posts exceprts from the Federal Register log.
