Pico closed by bomb scare *

A suitcase chained to a street sign brought out the bomb squad in the heavily Jewish Pico-Robertson neighborhood. All clear after a few hours of disruption. It's the Jewish holiday of Tisha B'av. Luke Ford monitored the situation (it's his 'hood) and has pics at his blog.

* That was nothing: 'Twas much worse on the Hollywood Freeway this morning, when a big rig crash and fre closed all but one southbound lane near Sunset. And on the San Diego this afternoon, when a crane knocked an electric power line across northbound lanes near Olympic.
