Playing Daniel Pearl

Dan FuttermanActor-screenwriter Dan Futterman will play the part of Daniel Pearl in the upcoming movie based on Mariane Pearl's book, according to the Washington Post's Reliable Source column. When it became known last month that Angelina Jolie would portray Mariane, nothing was said about casting of the slain reporter's part. Futterman, though, has been secretly preparing in Pakistan, the Post says. They kept it secret so the film crew would avoid any publicity there and because Futterman is Jewish. He wrote the screenplay for Capote and had a recurring role on "Judging Amy."
