Landon Dorris, LAPD officer

The three-year veteran was killed Sunday morning during a routine traffic accident investigation at Riverside Drive and Hyperion Avenue. He was in the street when struck by a car traveling on Riverside. The driver was questioned and released. Dorris joined the Northeast Division after six years as a motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, just back from Asia, visited the officer's family at County-USC Medical Center. Dorris is the first LAPD officer killed on duty since 2004.
