Sheriff raids Mel Gibson deputy

James Mee, the Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy in Malibu who booked Mel Gibson in July, had his home computer confiscated and other records seized last month, TMZ reported this afternoon. The sheriff's department obtained a search warrant to investigate whether Mee leaked some of the Gibson arrest report to TMZ. It was an embarrassing revelation since the report showing that Gibson had threatened the deputy and made anti-Semitic remarks came out while department officials were lying to the media that the arrest was routine. It later came out that Gibson has been a big supporter of the department, especially its Malibu station. In TMZ's report today on the search warrant, the website notes it has been contacted by officials investigating Mee — but never by anyone looking into the lying by higher-ups.
