Update on Westwood traffic (* updated)

UCLA has revised the traffic alert for this afternoon that I called unhelpfully vague yesterday. They still won't say that the president is the reason that Westside traffic will bite more than usual, preferring the more security-conscious and politic "very important dignitary." Anyway, the details are that Sunset Boulevard north of campus will be closed from 4 to 8 pm. Same for Sepulveda Boulevard from Sunset to Wilshire Boulevard. If you venture into that zone and don't have to, you are clearly not listening:

This visit is expected to result in significant traffic congestion throughout the area. Expect considerable delays and plan accordingly....

Significant delays are expected.

They advise, optimistically, that access to the San Diego Freeway from Wilshire will not be affected. Bush is here for a Republican Party fundraiser.

* Who is Elliot Broidy? Mark Lacter has the background on the host of this evening's Republican fundraiser at LA Biz Observed. Broidy is a major Bush backer and Israel supporter and was appointed by Mayor Villaraigosa to serve on the city Fire and Police Pensions Commission. His estate is typically described as being in Bel-Air (rather than adjacent Holmby Hills, both part of Los Angeles) and its construction was controversial among groups that oppose the removal of native trees.
