creditThe last minutes aboard the yacht Well Deserved before Thomas and Jackie Hawks were tied to the anchor and tossed overboard alive makes for a chilling read. The testimony, from a participant in the murders, was delivered to a crowded courtroom yesterday in the Santa Ana trial of Jennifer DeLeon, accused of helping her husband and three other men kill the Hawkses. The Orange County couple disappeared in 2004 after taking prospective buyers of the yacht out for a cruise. After the couple were thrown into the Pacific, their killers drank beer and fished all the way back to port. Best account I've seen is by Christine Hanley in the Times, and here's the Register's version.
