Update (7:27 pm): Channel 4 went to national news at 7 pm, Channel 7 just switched over to "Wheel of Fortune," and Channel 2 is filling. No spread in quite a while, and things seem to be calming down. Veronique de Turenne has photos shot from Point Dume up at Here in Malibu.

Update (5:57 pm): Cautious optimism that hand crews might get a circle around the burning homes and contain the spread. The fire broke out at 5 pm on Pacific Coast Highway at Malibu Canyon Road. The county put 300 firefighters on the scene pretty quick. Ten structures have burned.
